Bantwal, Nov 9: Thieves did not even spare an Anganwadi centre, which is implemented by the government to support children's nutrition and growth, from their ambit here at Shanti Gudde near Bondala in Panemangaluru village.
They broke into an Anganwadi centre here and stole various materials worth thousands of rupees that were stored there to prepare food for the children.
Devaki, an Anganwadi worker, filed a complaint with the police stating that about Rs 7,000 worth of various goods were stolen from the Anganwadi centre.
The stolen items included an aluminum cooker (10L) worth about Rs 1,500, another aluminum cooker (5L) worth about Rs 1,000, two aluminum cans and lids estimated at Rs 3,000, Rs 1,000 in cash and some grocery items.
A case under IPC sections 454, 457 and 380 has been registered and investigation is being conducted by Bantwal town police station.
