Bengaluru, Nov 10: The state government is mulling to build a cruise port at Ullal to boost tourism, immediately after first international cruise route was sanctioned for Mumbai.
Minister Mankala Vaidya conveyed the information after holding progress meeting of coastal districts on Thursday.
The blueprint of 625-meter long and 1325-meter wide cruise port between Talapady and Battappady beach near NH 66 is already done. Discussion over vehicle parking, terminal building, administrative office and other facilities provision was held in the meeting.

The minister said that there is huge demand for water transport and cruise tourism on the western coast of India. Hence, the human water transport port (cruise) is being built near Ullal on the southern part of Mangaluru. The government has thought of building port which can accommodate two 10-meter deep cruise ships at a time.
