Govt mulling to establish high-speed corridor between Mangaluru-Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Nov 10: Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that establishing Mangaluru-Bengaluru Integrated Greenfield High-Speed Corridor will be complimentary for the development of all cities that fall in the route in addition to Mangaluru.

Dinesh spoke after holding meeting with high level officials of EBTC. Udupi district in-charge minister Laxmi Hebbalkar was also in the meeting.

A 6-8 lane high speed corridor proposal between Mangaluru and Bengaluru is proposed in the plan. Dinesh said that more discussion with the route and map of the plan will be held with chief minister Siddaramaiah and PWD minister Satish Jarkiholi.

Gundu Rao also said that state government will encourage projects like this which will help steady development of Mangaluru. Private participation is also necessary for the implementation of these kind of industries, he said.

    show me the money honey! the govt clearly doesnt have funds to fulfil basic infra needs. please take a look at the state of many roads - all filled with potholes and incomplete drain work. All this is an eye wash - once the DPR is done and sent to Govt, its kept in abeyance forever. This govt will never implement any infra projects to improve costal karnataka.

    Connecting Mangalore To Bangalore with high speed corridor will be a major boast to both bangalore and mangalore but more to bangalore and along the path for decongesting bangalore and development of hinterland Bangalore unlike chennai mumbai madras kolkatta vikas etc without port will never grow to its full potential but this high speed connectivity with sea port mangalore will get the port advantageous considerably. This added leverage with cargo facility wll put bangalore into a biggest, largest , smartest city in the world sooner this is becomes a reality our coastal city can become a satellite city of bangalore

    Deva.... ..............For the past 76 years , neither BJP nor Congress has been able to provide a decent motorable 2 lane road from Mangalore to Bangalore & these guys will provide a 6-8 lane greenfield highway . With such fertile land - land procurement itself will be more than 50% of the alloted budget . Dont make promises one cant keep . Provide good decent 2 lane near the ghats , this will be enough and is achievable

    The late Oscar Fernandes proposed tunnel project which was a non starter. Then came Gadkari/Kateel with four lane project which too went to the dustbin. Now we see Gundu Rao with high speed six lane corridor. The fate of which we can fortell. All the while what we need is strengthening the 26 kilometer ghat section with strong retaining walls.However this job alone is not lucrative to anybody.

    It is very good move....but the Government needs to look at the Environment like more planting more Trees, More lake development, Conserving the forest ,rain harvesting ....It is not so far we will have all the infrastructure but no rain; no water.... I can see myself big difference 1990 to 2023.

    This is the right attitude... Even though the twin districts returned saffron candidates in recent elections congress govt. is not playing vengeance politics... In fact linking Bangalore with port city of Mangalore with faster and bigger cargo and passenger tracks was always a prudent call... But in the name of snubbing coastal belt due to extreme partiality and jealousy previous govts let go a golden opportunity of economic progress... Finally someone is thinking in the right lines....
