Byndoor, Nov 10: In a recent development, a high school teacher from Byndoor has been booked under the POCSO Act at the Byndoor Police Station. The allegations pertain to sexual harassment and mental abuse of a tenth-grade girl student.
The accused has been identified as Subrahmanya Maddodi, a teacher at Bijuru Primary School.
The incident unfolded on September 26 when the student, upon returning home from school, informed her family that she would no longer attend classes. Upon inquiry, the abuse by teacher had come to light.
During initial questioning by her family, the student alleged that Subrahmanya Maddodi had called her to his room and questioned her why she attended tuitions elsewhere when he could teach her better. He even humiliated her using abusive language and asked her if she was going to the tutor's house to wash dishes, she confided. On further inquiry by her famly, she disclosed that Subrahmanya touched her body parts including cheeks inappropriately and asked her if she wanted him or her parents.
The residents promptly reported the incident to the local eduaction department authorities. When the department officials did not initiate any action, they lodged a complaint with the Byndoor Police Station under the POCSO Act.
The police are urging the public not to lend an ear to any false accusations and to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors about this incident.
