Beltangady: Destructive lone tusker spotted roaming at Charmady

Beltangady, Nov 12: The lone tusker, initially seen at Navoor on Friday evening, covered a distance of nearly 15 km and was sighted near the Charmadi-Kanapadi forest route on Saturday evening.

Wandering through residential areas such as Indabettu, Maindadka, Ballalabettu, Hedya, and Kanarpa, the tusker crossed the road at Kadirudyavara and headed towards the forest.

During its journey, the tusker caused some damage to the coconut and plantain farm owned by Lizo Scaria in Kadirudyavara village.

Locals mention that this solitary tusker visits the area annually.

    Day is not too far off when a desperado wild elephant sneaks it's way nearer to this smart city (peacocks, monkeys and now leopards and 🦬 bisons have already made inroads nearer to the main city areas)! Curse, which greedy men have taken upon themselves!

    Those greedy rogues who have decimated the neighbouring reserved forests, natural habitat of these speechless creatures, have brought this curse of nature curse upon themselves of these wild animals coming into human habitation and rummaging their estates and posing a threat to human life; this wild animal man conflict is going to exponentially increase as the summer months arrive making the life of people miserable!!
