Gaddafi's Family Members Arrive in Algeria: Report

Algiers, Aug 30 (IANS): Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's family members, including his wife, daughter and sons, arrived in Algeria Monday, the state-run media reported.

His wife Safia, pregnant daughter Aisha, sons Hannibal and Mohammed, accompanied by their children, entered Algeria around 8.30 a.m. through the Algerian-Libyan border, Xinhua reported quoting the official APS news agency.

Algerian officials allowed Gaddafi's relatives to enter the country on humanitarian grounds, via the Tinalcom crossing in Illizi province, Algeria's Arabic daily Echorouk said.

The Libyan convoy, comprising seven cars with 31 people on board, waited for 12 hours at the crossing before being authorized to enter Algeria, the paper said.

The health condition of Aisha Gaddafi, who is pregnant in her 9th month, prompted Algeria to let in the convoy, the report noted.
