Udupi, Nov 16: “Police of city have arrested the accused of the gruesome murders that took place in Nejar on Sunday. Swift action of police and their ability is really commendable. As the heinous murderer is arrested people of Nejar and undivided district of Dakshina Kannada can heave a sigh of relief. We congratulate all the police force including SP,” said Udupi district Muslim Welfare Federation after holding an emergency meeting.

The federation also said that some electronic media and websites are publishing derogatory statements about the family members who are killed. This is condemnable. The federation opined that the accused is arrested by the police just a day ago. He is being interrogated. So it is not right on the part of some media to publish irresponsible reports based on rumours that are making waves around.

“Whatever be the reason, it is not justifiable for the gruesome murder of four people. So all have to be patient till the police inquiry is over. The media houses should not use this heinous act to increase their TRP,” said the federation.

The federation also urged the appointment of a special public prosecutor for the inquiry in the case and the investigation should be completed as soon as possible and stringent punishment given to the accused and all those who are behind this gruesome act.
