Mangaluru: Two from Dubai smuggling gold intercepted by Customs

Mangaluru, Nov 19: In a proactive move, officers of Mangaluru Customs intercepted two passengers traveling from Dubai to Mangaluru on November 9 and November 13, 2023.

The individuals arrived on Indigo flight 6E1163 and Air India Express flight IX814. The interception was carried out based on profiling conducted by the the vigilant customs officers.

Upon scanning and open examination of the passengers' baggage, the customs officials discovered gold concealed in various forms.

The seized items included beading rods hidden in a trolley bag, along with rhodium-coated gold objects concealed within a wristwatch, ball-point pen, hair trimmer, stainless steel wool scourer, and one rhodium-coated coin.

The total weight of the smuggled gold amounted to 322 grams, with a market value of Rs 18,17,718.

    Ok ...after that where does this go?who collects it,sorry to ask I have lost trust in Mangalore airport authorities after recent quadruple murder. Do you give these gold to such notorius cabin crew.Is it like snatching from one robber and passing it to another robber.Like passing the ball.     If drugs is catched in Mundra port, it's Adani's drug. But if gold smugglers are catched in Adani airport, no credit for Adani, but for Siddaramayya himmadi mummadi....wow.....
