'YMC Trophy 2023' cricket tournament held in Bahrain

Bahrain, Nov 21: The YMC organization of the island nation held a cricket tournament 'YMC Trophy 2023' under the aegis of Nisarga Bahrain at the Al Najma sports ground, Juffair here recently. Hundreds of cricket lovers and players watched the tournament and expressed their appreciation.

R & R organization, well known in Bahrain were the main sponsors of the event. The tournament started at 6 am and concluded with colourful programme at night. The strong 14 men’s teams and four women’s teams hailing from Karnataka competed in the 30 yards soft ball tournament.


























Sachi team was declared champions in the men's division. Kudla Super Kings, R D Group and Supernovas won second, third and fourth prizes respectively.

Among women’s division, HPCA team bagged the championship. Jai Karnataka team won second prize.

Among the men's division, Sooraj Shetty was the man of the tournament and best bowler. Nithin T P was the best batsman. Riaz was the best fielder. Anil Kumar was the best wicket keeper. Vipin Raj was declared the man of the finals.

Among women’s division, Kabia Badoni was the player of the tournament and best batsman, best wicket keeper and the man of the final match. Reshel was the best bowler. Swarna was declared the best fielder.

Manoj Shetty, Sampat Shetty and Yajnesh Poojary had organized the tournament well.

International fame Kabaddi player from Karnataka, Sukesh Hegde and Ekalavya award winner, international powerlifter Bola Akshata Poojary participated and graced the occasion as guests of honour.

In the concluding programme held in the night, Bahrain cricket board advisory committee president Mohammed Mansoor, Kannada Sangha president Amarnath Rai, R&R organization managing director Royston Fernandes, Kannada Sangha former president Pradeep Shetty, Web Tree organization managing director Venkatesh Bhat, Indian Club former president Anand Lobo, Bahrain Billavas president Harish Poojary, Bahrain Billavas former president Ajith Bangera, Bahrain Kulals former president Ganesh Manila, Radio anchor Kamalaksha Amin and others were present.

Guests of honor Sukesh Hegde and Bola Akshata Poojary were felicitated by shawl and memento. Guest of honor Mohammed Mansoor Hejmady who was awarded the Gulf Ratna award recently was honored.

The winners were presented trophies and cash prizes. In the colourful concluding programme, Shining Star group performed dances under the direction of Preetam Acharya. Nasik Dole group played drums and performed exciting fire games.

Kamal and Surendra were the judges. Mansoor and Freda were the commentators.

Dhanush Kulal, Shashikanth Acharya, Rathish Bhandary, Dikshit Salian, Sagar Shetty, Navin Kumar, Shashidhar Kulal, Bharath Nayak, Atul Poojary, Vivith Jeet D’ Souza, Sharan Rao and Nitya Nayak helped for the success of the tournament.

Roopesh Suvarna compered the programme. The YMC organization has been holding the tournament for the last two years, helping the distressed and providing monetary help to the needy.
