Kasargod, Nov 21: In a tragic incident that unfolded on Tuesday evening, November 21, on Market Road in Kasargod, two laborers lost their lives when a wall collapsed during the excavation of a pit for pipeline installation. The mishap also left two other workers injured.
The deceased have been identified as Lakshmappa (42) from Kolar and B M Basaiah (40) from Chikkamagaluru. Two workers, initially trapped under the debris, were successfully rescued and promptly admitted to a local hospital.
The fatal incident occurred as the pit was being dug for the pipeline installation, resulting in the collapse of the adjacent enclosure wall. Local residents and the police rushed to the scene, assisting in the rescue operation that unfortunately could not save two lives.
The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the mortuary at Kasargod General Hospital. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the potential risks associated with construction activities and underscores the importance of stringent safety measures in such endeavors.
