Former BJP MP, Wife Escape Unhurt in Gun Firing

New Delhi, Sep 1: Former Maharaja of Bharatpur Vishvendra Singh who was also member of parliament of BJP in the past, escaped unhurt when an unidentified gunmen fired at him here on Thursday September 1.

He and his wife along with around 250 supporters were protesting in front of the Laxmi Vilas Hotel in Bharatpur against a book the hotel owner critising the royal family of Bharatpur, when the gunmen opened fire.

Police said that Vishvendra Singh's supporters ransacked the hotel, following which bullets were fired from inside the building at the crowd, targeting the former royal couple. Luckily the couple escaped unhurt, but two of their supporters were injured .

Senior police officers reached the spot and investigations are on.
