Mangaluru, Nov 22: A wave of anger swept through family members and villagers as they gathered in front of a private hospital in Suratkal, alleging that 16-year-old boy from Kulai had died due to doctor's negligence on Wednesday, November 22.
Arfan who had sustained a minor leg injury in a road accident, succumbed due to the allegeed negligence on the part of doctors. Tension gripped the area as emotions ran high.
Leaders from various political parties, including CPIM leader Munir Katipalla, DYFI leaders B K Imtiaz, and Srinath Kulal, along with Congress leaders Inayat Ali and Purushottam Chitrapur, arrived at the scene to address the grieving family and pacify the agitated crowd. They also reached out to the minister in charge, urging swift justice.
District Medical Officer Dr Thimmaiah, accompanied by a team, arrived at the scene and engaged in discussions with the leaders, family members of the deceased, and hospital officials. In response to the leaders' demands, Dr. Thimmaiah announced the formation of a team comprising eight expert doctors, including private practitioners, to investigate the case. He assured that the report would be compiled within a stipulated timeframe, and appropriate action would be taken against any doctors found guilty of negligence.
A case has been registered at Suratkal Police Station in connection with the incident, as authorities work to ascertain the facts surrounding the tragic demise.
