Mangaluru, Nov 23: Nalin Kumar Kateel is likely to get BJP ticket for the fourth time to fight the Lok Sabha elections from Dakshina Kannada district. A clue to this effect was given by the new party president B Y Vijayendra. It means that Nalin Kumar will get the nod in spite of a strong opposition within the party cadres.
Speaking at the BJP workers’ meeting Vijayendra had claimed that the party would win all the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the coming elections in Karnataka and that all the party workers would work unitedly for the victory of Nalin Kumar Kateel.
There was opposition to give ticket to Nalin Kumar Kateel in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as well. However, the party had allowed Nalin to contest and win for the third consecutive term. Now again the same dissent has surfaced within the Dakshina Kannada BJP circles. But the statement given by Vijayendra has created curiosity.
Not taken a single rupee bribe – MP Nalin
As the Lok Sabha elections are fast approaching the immediate past president of BJP and MP of Dakshina Kannada Nalin Kumar Kateel swore in the name of Kateel Sri Durga Parameshwari that he has not taken a single rupee of bribe from anyone.
Nalin spoke in the felicitation programme that was organised at Bantwal. He further said, “Till date I have not touched a single rupee of anyone. I swear on Kateel Goddess that I have not taken money during my term as MP. I have not taken any money from any contractor or officer. I believe in Kateel Goddess immensely."
“I came to politics 20 years ago. I was the Karyavaaha of RSS. They asked me to create awareness about the Hindu religion. I did the same. When the seniors of RSS called me, I asked them to give me the responsibility of Bajrang Dal. But they instead asked me to join the BJP. So I came into the party. When the party asked me to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2009, I did not agree. Later, I agreed due to instructions from seniors of the RSS. I have fought when injustice is meted out to Hindu religion. Holding a position is not politics for us. Our aim is best. For four and half years I have not been accused of anything. I am like a common worker without indulging in any kind of groupism within the party,” he said.
Responding to prospect of being the likely BJP candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Nalin said, “I have heard countless criticisms about me. I have tolerated many insults as I have accepted the ideology of BJP. I bow to your intentions. I have endured many pains. I am not saying that I should be given the party ticket for the Lok Sabha elections. I will support whoever the party chooses. My aim is that Modi should be the PM of this country again."
“My next aim is to see that BJP turns out victorious in the next elections. I am also sad that I could not visit villages after I became the MP. Due to four and half years of responsible politics I could not visit villages. Due to the presidentship of state BJP I had responsibility of the whole state. I have sincerely worked to take BJP to every village. But I did not work in a manner in which you have to bury your heads in shame. Now I will give my full attention to Dakshina Kannada. I will work in a manner not to bring any bad name to the party's honour. In the remaining six months I will visit the villages and will seek the blessings of the people by touching their feet.”
