Mangaluru, Nov 28: Superintendent of Police C B Rishyanth has directed his police officers to submit the case report before December 25 pertaining to government and private buses where the passengers are seen standing on footboards and also private vehicles with overloading of passengers.
Such buses and vehicles will be seized and licences will be cancelled, he said while speaking at the SC/ST meeting held here on Tuesday November 28.
This issue was brought to his notice by Dalit leader Eshwari who demanded additional buses for Beltangady.
In his reply, C B Rishyanth said, "I have noticed the violation of buses with regard to passengers standing on footboards and overloading of private vehicles. This is a serious issue and action needs to be taken against such vehicles."
The district police chief also assured to take action on illegal sand mining in parts of Beltangady as per the complaints received during the meeting
He also said a WhatsApp group has been formed involving DC, PWD, mines and geology officials where compliants can be sent to the group members and assured that confidentiality of the complainant will be maintained.
Shekar from Beltangady said, "More than 300 passengers wait for long hours to get one government bus from Naravi to reach Belthangady."
