Kumta, Nov 30: A woman, who left her children at the bus stand, parked her scooter near the beach and made it look as if she had jumped into the sea, was arrested by the police.
Nivedita Nagaraja Bhandary, a resident of Santagal village of the taluk left her children at the bus stand and went to Headbunder sea area, parked her scooter, kept her Mangalasutra, foot-ring, and mobile phone on the beach and had thrown her veil into the sea to make it as if she has killed herself.
It was considered that Nivedita must have died by suicide as her veil was found at sea shore and her personal belonging near the beach. The lifeguards and police searched intensely for her mortal remains too. The police team led by PSI Naveen suspected some foul play. When they inquired with auto-rickshaw drivers near the beach, they informed that a woman had went to some other place in auto-rickshaw on that day.
In her confession, after being caught, Nivedita said, “I have done this because of anger on my husband. He used to quarrel and beat me every day after consuming liquor. Hence, I wanted to teach him a lesson.”
The police arrested Nivedita on the accusation of wasting their time and effort and trying to mislead them.
