Bhatkal, Sep 3: A fisherman on Saturday September 3 had a narrow escape when his boat drifted away in the turbulent seas at around 1.30 pm here.

Tulsidasa Moger (23), was out fishing when the safety ropes of the boat cut off and it drifted away due to high currents. The water level in the sea has been high due to rains and for the last seven days no fishing activity has taken place.

The boat, Mukambika-04, belongs to Tulsidasa's father Malla Poojari Moger from Belke.

As soon as the news spread, people gathered in large numbers and coastal security team along with a team from Murdeshwar Durga Parameshwar sea water sports swung into action.

After some efforts, Tulsidasa was rescued and brought back to shore. However, the boat is still in water at about one km from the shore. All operations to salvage the boat have been called for the present due to the high currents in the sea.
