Kundapur: Work of police, journalists thankless – ASP Siddalingappa

Kundapur, Dec 2: “The police and journalists are active 24 hours of the day. But their job is thankless. However, with respect to society both are doing excellent work. Both have a big role to play in protecting a healthy society,” said ASP S T Siddalingappa.

Siddalingappa spoke after distributing prizes for the essay competition that was organized by Kundapur taluk working journalists’ association on Saturday.

Siddalingappa further said, “It is appreciable that essay competition is held for the children of government school. Kundapur Kannada is unique. Kannada has not lost its flavour at village level.”

Ashok Poojary, president of Billava Samaja Seva Sangha of Kundapur said, “We can save Kannada only by speaking it more often. The subject chosen by journalists’ association about police, who take utmost care in saving the society is really appreciable.”

Shobha Shetty, zonal educational officer, Kundapur said, “Journalists have given an opportunity to children to know about the policemen and also express their thoughts on them. The attempt of the association in sharpening the creativity skills of students is really appreciable.”

Nagaraja Rayappanamata, president of association presided over the function. Ramakrishna B G, Vinay Pais, Nazeer Polya and Mohammed Sharif also spoke on the occasion.

Judges Chethan Kumar Shetty Kovadi, Poornima Kamalashile and Ashok Thekkatte shared their experience.

Prize winners Pragati R Amin, Prateeksha and Harshini expressed their opinion. Lokesh Achar was present. Prashant Pade welcomed the gathering. Ganesh Beejadi rendered vote of thanks. Srikant Hemmady read the prize winners’ list. The programme was competed by Chandrashekhar Beejadi.

Pragati R Amin of Heskattur government high school bagged the first prize, while Prateeksha of Basrur government high school and Harshini of Siddapur government high school won the second and third prizes respectively.

Consolation prizes were given to Radhika, Deeksha, Sahitya, Ardy of, Shravya of Albady government high school, Ananya of high school department of Shankaranarayana government PU college , Spandana Ullur and Srishant of Siddapur government high school, Srishti of Vakwadi government high school, Navya of Basrur government high school, Srilakshmi of Koteshwara KPS, Anushree of Kedoor government high school, Shravya of Gangolli Stella Mary’s high school and Archana of St Mary’s high school Kundapur.
