Mangaluru: Bondel parish celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Mangaluru, Dec 5: International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated by organizing a gathering for the specially-abled parishioners of Bondel Parish at Veronica Vihar, Maryhill on December 3.

The day commenced with eucharistic celebration. The mass was celebrated by parish priest Fr Andrew D’Souza. During the mass, he delivered an inspiring homily. He highlighted specially-abled people are the most loved children of God and people entrusted to take care of them see it as a blessing from God. The liturgy was conducted by the members of commission for differently abled.

A programme was organised by the committee members for the specially-abled people and to their family members. Ina Peres, committee member, compered the programme. Flona Concesso, committee secretary welcomed the gathering. Fr Andrew D’Souza was the main guest. Sr Maria Jyothi, administrator Veronica Vihar, Sr Freeda, superior of Veronica Vihar and Apostolic Carmelite sisters rendering service at Veronica Vihar were present. Sr Celestine of the parish was also among the guests. 

A significant crowd of around 70 people were present for the event. God’s beloved people were entertained with set of games conducted by Sr Freeda. Prizes and gifts were distributed during the occasion. Fr Andrew D’Souza appreciated the Apostolic Carmelite sisters and the committee members for their support and full co-operation in organising the programme. Kennedy D’Souza one of the parent present proposed vote of thanks. The day ended with the delicious meal served.
