Belagavi, Dec 5: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has lambasted BJP MP Tejaswi Surya for grossly twisting his statement on compensation to Army soldier Pranjal, who died while on duty. He accused the BJP MP of using even the martyrdom of the soldier for his 'fake news factory.'
Demanding an unconditional public apology from the BJP MP if he has 'any shame' for deliberately twisting his statement and using it for false propaganda, Siddaramaiah said State Government officials have already presented a cheque for Rs 50 lac to the bereaved family as solatium. He also offered to pay if it is proved that any other state is paying compensation of Rs 1 crore to the bereaved families of soldiers in their respective states.
Posting the entire statement regarding the question and giving a detailed response, the Chief Minister has issued a tweet titled 'ShameOnYouSurya.'
Accusing the BJP MP from Bengaluru South, the Chief Minister said he was not able to properly hear the question from media members regarding payment of compensation, and the statement was twisted to give the impression that the government was averse to granting compensation to families of the soldiers who died while on duty.
The social media posts by Tejaswi Surya by twisting his statement prove that BJP misuses the country, gods, and soldiers for its political agenda, he said, pointing out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had failed to pay final homage to Pranjal when the body was brought for the funeral, even when the Prime Minister was in Bengaluru to attend a HAL function and took a ride on the Tejas fighter jet.
"We, however, did not make an issue out of the failure of the Prime Minister to pay his final respects even when he was very much in Bengaluru," he said.
'Liar Surya'
The State Government’s cheque for Rs 50 lac as compensation was presented by Deputy Commissioner Dayanand to the bereaved family of deceased Capt M V Pranjal. The Director of Sainik Welfare Department Shashidhar was also present.
The Chief Minister termed Tejaswi Surya a "liar" and a "perverted" person, stating that the people will teach a lesson to such persons who misuse even the death of a soldier for political propaganda.
