Mangalore: Special Programme in Town Hall to Salute Noble Service of Teachers

Mangalore, Sep 5: “Indian society always had everlasting faith in the teachers’ community. The role of teachers in the development of this nation is notable”, opined district in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar.
He was delivering his inaugural address at the Teachers’ Day programme organized by DK Zilla Panchayath and Public Instruction Department Mangalore at Town Hall marking the birth anniversary of S Radhakrishnan on Monday September 5.
Palemar further said that education system can not be corrupt and no teachers will accept it since they consider their profession as one of the sacred professions on earth and only after asserting such values they choose the profession.
As per the recent survey of joint review mission, among 20 best schools noted in the whole nation, the DK district also was noted in national level. He said utilizing teachers for other Government works is not justified like election duty and census survey among others, and he added the Government will write to election commission on this matter and said 45,000 new teachers are being recruited to meet the requirement of teachers, he informed.
Deputy speaker Yogish Bhat presided. Zilla Panchayath president K T Shailaja Bhat, MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLA U T Khader, DK Zilla Panchayath vice president Dhanalaxmi Bangera, MCC deputy mayor Geetha Nayak, education and standing committee president Eshwar Kateel, St Aloysius College Kannada dept. HOD Damodar Shetty among others were present.
Students of St Jerosa English Medium School, Jeppu presented a ‘Nrithya Rupaka’ programme. Deputy Director, Department of Public Instruction Moses Jayashekar welcomed. Dayavathi, regional education officer proposed the vote of thanks.
On the occasion, the teacher who bagged state awards for the year 2010-11 Dayanand Rai of Navodaya High School, Puttur taluk was honoured.
Also as may as 12 primary and high school teachers of various colleges who bagged district awards were honoured and 43 teachers who retired in the year 2011 in Mangalore city limit schools after serving 30 to 40 years were also felicitated.
