Udupi, Dec 6: Dhanya Muhurtha was held in preparation of the 2024-26 Paryaya of Sri Puttige Math on Wednesday, December 6 here at the Udupi Sri Krishna Math.

Sri Sugunendratirtha Swamiji of Puttige Math will ascend the Sarvajna Peetha for the fourth time on January 8, 2024 as the Paryaya pontiff.

After completing the muhurta for akki, bele and kattige, the fourth muhurtha was held on December 6. Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji will enter Udupi city on January 8 along with his disciple Sri Susheendra Theertha.

As part of Dhanya Muhurta, morning mahapooja was offered to the Vithala deity of Puttige Math, and the deity prayer was fulfilled. After that, a procession went to Chandreshwara, Ananteshwara, Shri Krishna Math, Garuda, Madhva, Sarvajna Simhasana, Bhojana shala Prana Deva gudi, Subrahmanya Gudi, Navagraha Gudi, Vrindavana, Gau shaala and offered prayers.

After coming back to the Puttige Math, grain mudi was taken on head, short mudi on the golden palanquin and procession on the Car Street. Four mudi were offered in the Gadduge of Sri Krishna Math Badagumalige and worship was offered.

Paying respects to the representatives of different mutts, sub-mutts and scholars, giving Navagraha donation, the religious ceremony of Dhanya Muhurta was conducted under the leadership of Raghavendra Kodancha.

On this occasion, a shikara was installed on the wooden chariot built near the Madhva Sarovara.

The tradition behind Dhanya Muhurata is the collection of grains to offer food to the devotees who come during the next two years of Puttige Paryaya from January 18, 2024.

Addressing the devotees, Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Puttige Math said, "Apart from offering prayers, incense and other offerings to Lord everyone should meditate on Bhagavad internally. This time it is Vishwa Gita Paryaya. There is one fruit between the resolve and fullness of God's worship. Everyone has a desire for God's worship and grace, but if the world receives the fund of God's grace, everything will be easy. God's grace is needed along with human effort. The alternative is the worship of worldly merit rather than personal. Our intention is to write Bhagavad Gita by one crore people, and Lord Krishna is there to fulfill it. During this Paryaya, the people of Udupi have the opportunity to serve the devotees along with the service of God. Just like the shops opened in America on Black Friday for everyone when we descend from the paryaya, we should not miss the opportunity to serve God."

Parayaya Welcome Committee Executive chairman K Raghupathi Bhat said, "Puttige Math Paryaya is a vishwa Paryaya in the background of establishing 15 Krishna Mandiras abroad along with the promotion of Hindu culture and Madhva heritage. Preparations have been made for electrification and city decoration, starting with the Kapu Dandatirtha, where Teerthsnanam is performed before the ascending. 10 km from the city a range of household members can register to host one or two guests. In 2004, before Srisugunendratirtha Sripada ascended the paryaya, the district commissioner who was the administrator of the city council performed the civil honour. This time also the civil honour after the pura pravesha on January 8 will be presided over by the district commisioner."

The guests offered new grains to the plate with Navagraha thought and offered it to Lord Krishna. Sridhara Upadhya recited the Navagrahastotra.

The Puttige Paryaya 2024-26 invitation which has been specially designed was released by Puttige Math Swamiji on the occasion.

Kannarpadi Sree Jayadurgaparameshwari Temple management committee president Raghavendra Bhat was handed over the dedication banner.

"The survival of religion, culture and tradition is necessary to spread the Gitasara preached by Lord Krishna to the world. Paryaya teachings should reach the youths. When I went abroad, I was happy to spread religion through English Satyanarayana Puja in the Krishna Mandira" said Dr D Veerendra Heggade, honorary president of welcome committee.
