Glorious Thanksgiving Day held for Sisters of Charity at Infant Mary Convent, Jeppu

Mangaluru, Dec 6: A splendid building constructed mainly by the generous donors Rajesh and Richard Mascarenhas from Bengaluru and Ireland respectively, was inaugurated by Sr Irene Menezes, the provincial superior of Mangaluru, and blessed by Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Dr Peter Paul Saldanha along with other priests. In his homily, the Bishop appreciated the service of the sisters to the poor and downtrodden. He also wished that they continued with the same enthusiasm to meet the needs of the poor of today.

A felicitation programme was well organized to honor the dignitaries like the Bishop, Fr Melwin Pinto, the rector of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, the representative of the Jesuits who invited the guests, Fr Richard Coelho, the director of Fr Muller Charitable Institutions, Mangaluru, Sr Rosy Cutinha, the provincial superior of Dharwad, Fr Daniel Veigas OP, episcopal vicar for Religious, Mangalore Diocese, Sr Philo Joseph, the newly appointed provincial superior of Calicut, the donors Dr Richard Mascarenhas, Laureen Mascarenhas, the representative of the donor Rajesh Mascarenhas, the superiors who rendered their service in the recent past at Infant Mary, Jeppu and Provincial Superior the president of the function and few others too.

A calendar of the year 2024 containing photographs of all the works of mercy rendered by the Sisters of Charity was released and the same was distributed with a memento to the dignitaries and other guests. A documentary depicting the glimpses of the Infant Mary Convent Jeppu and of the apostolic services of the Sisters of Charity (SCCG) was screened.

To crown it all, a sumptuous dinner was served to all the participants, hosted by Ronald Colaco, chairman, IFKCA. The day ended with a joyful gratitude.
