Belagavi, Dec 7: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused senior BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal of carrying out hate politics against the minority Muslim community.

Speaking to media persons in Belagavi on Thursday, the Chief Minister said he has cordial relations with Hashim Peera Darga chief Syed Mohammad Tanvir Hashmi Moulvi since the last several years and attacked the BJP leader not to carry out his hate politics as part of BJP’s communal polarization politics.

Terming Yatnal as the ‘biggest liar’, Siddaramaiah asked the BJP leader to desist from needlessly levelling baseless charges.

“If Syed Mohammad Tanvir Hashmi Moulvi is a terrorist as alleged by Yatnal, why his party’s government in Delhi headed by Narendra Modi with Amit Shah as Home Minister did not do anything for 10 years? What were they doing,’’ he asked.

“Instead of levelling false charges, let BJP first prove the charges and take action,’’ he said.

Siddaramaiah said Yatnal tried to become the State BJP President and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and after being denied both the posts is levelling false charges.

He said there is no BJP in South India.

The Chief Minister criticized the BJP leader Govind Karjol over the diversion of SC/ST funds for other purposes and asked the latter to first explain his party government slashed the previous allocation of Rs 30,000 crore to Rs 25,000 crore under the BJP rule.

Bommai demands NIA probe into Moulvi

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai urged the Siddaramaiah government to entrust the incident of chief minister and Syed Mohammad Tanvir Hashmi Moulvi sharing the same platform to National Investigation Agency (NIA) as the latter was linked with the terrorist organisation ISIS.

Bommai claimed that there are cases against the Moulvi for making provocative statements in Vijayapura and pointed out that BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has raised the issue of ISIS-linked Moulvi and chief minister sharing the dais. He asked the government not to dismiss the issue lightly.

The BJP leader pointed out that Congress leaders had spoken lightly of the cooker bomb episode and it has been found that five to six persons with anti-national background were involved.

The Chief Minister is talking about Rs 10,000 crore allocation to the Muslim community and termed it as part of the appeasement politics of Congress party. He mentioned minster Zameer Ahmed’s statement that the Congress party has made a Muslim as Speaker of the Assembly to force everybody to address him as ‘Ji Huzoor’ and said such statements exhibit the mindset of the Congress leaders.

CM attends Swearing in Ceremony

The chief minister later flew to Hyderabad to participate in the swearing in ceremony of the new Congress government headed by Revant Reddy. The swearing in ceremony was attended by Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
