Haryana, Dec 11: Abhilasha Sharma was born and brought up in Haryana. She faced enormous hardship in the initial attempts in passing the toughest UPSC examinations. Only through sheer grit and determination, she cleared the exam with flying colours in her fourth attempt.
Abhilasha’s first attempt at the UPSC was in 2013. Three consecutive attempts resulted in failure and she was in a dilemma. However, coaxing herself up, she began devoting 15 to 16 hours in a day to the strenuous studies. She opted for international relations and political science as her optional subjects.
In her fourth attempt, Abhilasha got an impressive AIR 68. Abhilasha credits her success to her husband Ankit whom she married in 2017. Their relation, according to Abhilasha turned from friendship to love and culminated in marriage. Ankit was the motivating factor who supported Abhilasha wholeheartedly in her quest to become an IAS officer.
Abhilasha advices the IAS aspirants to make reading newspapers a daily routine and keep updated on current affairs. She also stresses on aptitude as it may also be a hurdle if proper attention is not given while studying.
