Dubai, Sep 8: Come 25th November, 2011 – Shaikh Rashid Auditorium (Indian High School) Dubai –UAE will be witness to a Konkani musical extravaganza, perhaps the grandest event of the year. SAKATH – UAE ( St Anne’s Kutam Thottam ), an association with the parishioners of St Anne’s Church Thottam, a small parish under the proposed Udupi Diocese living in the UAE, are all set to provide an evening of quality entertainment – ‘Sakath Sangeeth Saanz’ to the Konkani-speaking people of UAE.
To make this evening eventful, SAKATH Thottam has initiated the process of bringing popular singers from both Mangalore and Goa for the event. ‘Yodling King’ Melvin Peris, along with Anita D'Souza (Samson), will render some popular numbers from Mangalore, while ‘Melody King’ Aniceto and Lulu will rock the stage with popular Goan Numbers.
Young singing sensations, Vijay Vaz from Siddakatte, Mangalore, and Laila D'souza from Dubai, are ready to mesmerize the audience with some of the best ever hit Songs.
An assortment of Tulu songs will be an added attraction of this event.
To add spice to the evening, famous comedy artiste, Santhosh D Souza, will lead a troupe of other local artistes like Alphonse, Stany D Cunha, James Pius along with Sunitha Menezes, to entertain the audience with their rib-tickling comedy skits.
Ace music director, Ramiro, will provide music for the event with his group, while famous dance group of UAE, ‘Ocean Kids’, will entertain the audience with their hit numbers.
Compere beyond compare, Leslie Rego from Mangalore, will compere this programme.
Chairman of SAKATH Mega Event committee, Frank Fernandes, a noted businessman and philanthropist, speaking to the media, said, “We want to give something new to UAE Konkani audience from traditional format programmes. Hence we have decided to go with Goan and Mangalorean singers. Thus, we will be providing a platform to show our solidarity with both regions. We do not have any doubt that this programme will make a mark of its own in UAE Konkani community circles."
He also requested the audience to book their tickets well in advance to avoid last minute disappointment. Tickets will be available for sale within a few days.
