BJP Stages Protest in Parliament Complex

New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS): The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) members led by the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest in the parliament complex here Thursday after senior leader L.K. Advani was not allowed to speak on the cash-for-vote scam in Lok Sabha.

The protest came soon after Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned.

Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and two former BJP MPs were Tuesday arrested for alleged involvement in the cash-for-votes scandal arising from the July 2008 parliament trust vote.

Led by senior leaders Advani, Leaders of Opposition in the two houses Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitely, and Janata Dal-United leader Sharad Yadav, NDA members marched to the Mahatma Gandhi statue within the parliament complex.

They demanded an impartial inquiry into the scam and punishment for its beneficiaries.

Both houses lost the question hour on the last day of the monsoon session as the opposition demanded a discussion on the scam.
