Beltangady: 36-year-old killed in electric hacksaw mishap

Beltangady, Dec 21: In a tragic incident at Savya, under the Venur police station limits, a man lost his life while cutting a tree branch. Prashant Poojary (36), a resident of Hosamane in Savya, met with a fatal accident when he lost balance and, in the fall, the teeth of the electric hacksaw became lodged in his throat, leading to his demise.

The unfortunate event took place in the morning on December 19, as Prashant and his brother Pramod were engaged in cutting the tree for firewood. Prashant's fall resulted in a severe neck injury from the still-operating cutting machine. He was promptly admitted to Alvas Hospital, and later transferred to Mangaluru for advanced medical treatment. Despite efforts, he passed away in the morning of\n December 20.

Prashant, who was unmarried, had recently sought an alliance with a girl from Ekkaru, and the marriage was scheduled for March 2024. He was the second son of a financially struggling family, survived by his parents, sister, and two brothers.
