Udupi, Sep 9: Karnataka State Environment Board Udupi district deputy environment officer Ravichandra K has been arrested by Lokayukta SP D S Jagamayyanawar here on Thursday September 8.

Ganesh Anand Nalthur, a resident of Yeddyady- Mathyady village in Kundapur taluk, with the intention of opening his own factory ‘Nisarga Coconut Industries’ had applied for NOC (No Objection Certificate) with the environmental officer on August 12, 2011. He had also paid Rs 5,000 as the fixed fee. But his certificate was not issued on time and Ravichandra demanded Rs 15,000 for the issue of the certificate.
 
As per the plan, on Thursday, the Lokayukta police raided his office and caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe. Ganesh was made to pay a bribe by the Lokayukta police to trap Ravichandra. He has been remanded to judicial custody for now.

    Excellent job! Such corruption and greedy incidents at the lower-level govt. offices must be reported, caught and punished severely. Elected govt. officials getting caught for corruption at the State and National levels is becoming daily news these days!!
    Shame on such people. Actions of such people bring bad rep to all of India and its citizens in the International community.
