Udupi: Online fraud case, victim loses Rs 3.44 Lacs

Udupi, Dec 22: The CEN police station has registered a case of cheating after a person was duped of Rs 3,44,200 on whatsApp message about a trading task.

The complainant Dileep (56), Soode village, Karkala, received a WhatsApp message about a trading task. On June 16, 2023 looking at the message the complainant contacted the number, an unknown person told him that if he invests money in Crypto.com on the Telegram app, he will be paid. Believing that he will be paid high dividends, the victim deposited Rs 3,44,200 in various bank accounts, through online step-by-step as directed by the unknown person on June 18, 2023.

After not receiving any dividends and the deposited money, the victim learnt that he was cheated and registered a case in CEN police station.
