Kundapur, Dec 23: Wedding is a programme to connect relationships. It is a festival that is celebrated by the Koodu family as one. Weddings are confined only to wedding pandals these days. The customs and traditions of olden days have become extinct.

The wedding of bringing back the memories of olden days is being performed at Naganya compound, Kundapur Ferry road. The three-day long wedding has several specialties. The celebrations under the name of Nammani Madi family fair have a festive atmosphere for three days.

The wedding of Karthik B and Dr Sumathi K will be conducted at Kundapur R N S Kalyana Mantapa on Monday, December 25. The ‘Nammani Madi Family fair’ will be held from December 22 to December 26 in this connection. The event was inaugurated on Friday morning by Haladi Shastra. The bridegroom was escorted home by decorated bullock cart from near Perry Road Garden. The family members of the bride groom and friends took part in the procession along with the beating of drums by the musicians. A programme of lectures was held in the evening. Poornima Suresh gave a lecture. The centenary celebrations of Naganya snuff business were also held. It was followed by a Disco Jockey programme by the Adarsh couple.

The Samskara lecture will be held by the family on December 23. K V Ramesh Moodbidri will give the lecture. There will be entertaining games by dancer comedian Ayana V Ramesh Moodbidri and team in the evening. There will be a drama at 8 pm titled Katheyalla – Jeevana and Disco Jockey D J at 10 pm by the family members. A lecture on the Hindu customs and traditions will be held by Vadiraj Bhat Gopadi on Sunday, December 24. There will be singing, skit titled Gulabi Thota, dances, mono acting, Antakshari and Disco Jockey in the evening.

The wedding will be held on December 25. Yakshagana Chandrahasa will be held at 6 pm. Satyanarayana pooja and the conclusion of the programme will be held on December 26. Naganna canteen is opened at home where meals and refreshments will be served without interruption.

President of Kundapur Kalakshetra B Kishore Kumar Kundapur said that they had organized similar wedding successfully earlier. “This is a celebration of family members held by them as one. Understanding the family relationship is its intention. It is also a platform to showcase the talents of family members,” he said.
