Udupi: Fisherman swept away by massive wave near Kadipatna beach

Udupi, Dec 23: In a heart-breaking incident near Kadipatna beach of Padubidri on Friday, a young fisherman lost his life while engaged in fishing.

The victim, identified as Vasantha Padebettu alias Baddu (32), the son of Padubidri Gopala, was dropping a net into the sea when a huge wave struck him, causing him to fall into the water. Vasantha was an employee on a fishing boat owned by Bhuvanendra of Padubidri, and the incident occurred early in the morning.

The tragedy unfolded as Vasantha, holding one end of the net during the fishing activity, lost his balance when a massive wave crashed over him, leading to his death.

The Padubidri police have registered a case.
