Mangalorean Sudhir Attavar's Sandalwood Movie 'Parie' to Hit Theatres Soon

Mangalore, Sep 9:  Film makers of ‘Parie’, a soon-to-release Sandalwood movie held a press meet at the Press Club here on Friday September 9 to brief the media about the film.

The movie starring rakesh, nagkiran, Harshika, Smitha ( Nivedita), sardar Sathya among others has a unique subject treated with the fragrance of a love story – this is a one line description of ‘Parie’- a film directed by Mangalore’s very own Sudhir Attavar and produced by BDT Abhiyantharara Chitra.


You can expect interesting twists, mind-boggling emotional sequences packaged with refreshing visuals of captivating locations, haunting melodies and much more. ‘Parie’ has been driven by three jewels of Indian Film Industry and Padmashree awardees – M S Sathyu, Nemai Ghosh and Usha Uthup.

Sudhir Attavar has aptly adapted a novel into a crisp and catchy screenplay. The audience will surely be spell-bound at the narration and depiction of this love story which is weaved around a ‘Liquor Mafia’ subplot. 

A rich and distillery owner Sumedha, takes over the reins of liquor manufacturing unit after the sudden demise of her father. Parie is the daughter of an arrogant illicit liquor baron in a Lambaani tribal taanda. Parie falls in love with a bramhin boy named Bharadwaja. Bharadwaja breaks out from the shackles of bramhinism after some disturbing sequence of events and joins the Lambaani tribal taanda. To win over parie and her family, he masters the manufacturing and dealings of illicit liquor. Sumedha on the other hand is fighting the duplicate market of all her liquor brands. The film opens with these introductions but as it proceeds, it brings up new questions, circumstances and nuances which are best enjoyed on the silver screen.

About Sudhir Attavar

Basically from an engineering background, Sudhir has been active in ‘performing arts’ all through. He acted in more than 100 plays , directed more than 10 plays and he has been a founding member of ‘Suvi Creations’ along with his childhood friend Vidyadhar Shetty. Working with M S Sathyu for almost 10 years in theatre, TV and cinema, had proved his creative skills in all fields of art. Sudhir ventured into writing film song lyrics in Kannada film ‘Ijjodu’. His song ‘MaraliMareyagi’ for the movie ‘Savari’ has won him laurels and awards.

After directing documentaries and short films, ‘Parie’ is his directional debut of a feature film. Born as the youngest kid to Sundar and Kamala in Attavar, here, Sudhir is an alumnus of St Aloysius College, Mangalore.  Later he joined BDT College of Engineering in Davanagere to study BE in Electronics and Communication branch.

Sudhir is supported by brothers Sadashiva and Suresh, his wife Rajashree and daughter Shlagya.
