Jail Authorities Submit Amar Singh's Medical Record

New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS): The Tihar jail authorities Friday submitted a medical record of Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh before a Delhi court, saying he is stable and his vital organs are being regularly monitored.

The report was presented before special judge Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal.

"During his stay, the patient has not made any medical complaint. Presently his vitals are being monitored at central jail and the general condition is stable," said a senior medical officer of Central Jail No.3 where Amar Singh is lodged.

The jail superintendent stated that Amar Singh has been kept in a separate ward which has an exhaust fan, separate toilet-cum-bathroom and a fan.

This comes after the special court hearing the cash-for-votes scandal asked the prison officials to file a report on the condition of Amar Singh who has applied for bail on medical grounds. He has been remanded in judicial custody in connection with the case till Sep 19.

The jail superintendent also said that in view of Amar Singh's health condition, an ambulance has been kept outside the jail. Moreover, his cell is close to the jail hospital. Blood and urine tests have been conducted.

The court, which accepted the application, directed the jail authorities to submit the report by Sep 12 and fixed the matter for argument.

The court might pronounce its order on Singh's bail plea Sep 12.

The cash-for-votes scam relates to the July 2008 trust vote in parliament.
