Bangalore: Katta Permitted to Undergo Surgery, Judicial Custody Till Sep 19

Bangalore, Sep 9: Former Karnataka minister Katta Subramanya Naidu was granted permission by the Lokayukta Special Court for undergoing surgery for his cervical spinal problem.

Katta and and his BBMP corporator son Jagadish along with Itaska Company’s Managing Director V Srinivas, arrested in connection with the case for their alleged involvement in Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) scam have been languishing in judicial custody for over a month.

However, the judicial custody of Katta and the two other arrested persons will be continued till September 19.

The Lokayukta Special Court Judge N K Sudhindra Rao, while hearing the case of Katta and other accused persons, granted permission for the surgery of the former minister for cervical spinal problem and directed the Victoria Hospital authorities to keep the court informed.

The Court also directed that a copy of the order be sent to the jailer of Parappana Agrahara where Katta was lodged before being admitted to Victoria Hospital on August 24.

The Registered Medical Officer of Victoria Hospital,Dr Nagaraj Jain filed a letter along with a copy of the medical history of Katta and the recommendation for cervical surgery, requiring a minimum of seven days hospitalization.

Meanwhile, the case involving former JD(S) Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and his wife Anita, MLA, who personally appeared before the Lokayukta Special Court Judge N K Sudhindra Rao, submitted personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each and a surety as per the directions of the State High Court which had granted them anticipatory bail.

The Special Court Judge adjourned their case to September 24.

Incidentally, Kumaraswamy and his wife filed applications for grant of bail before the Lokayukta Special Court.

While Kumaraswamy is accused of granting mining license to Jantakal mining company, the former chief minister’s wife is charged with securing a site from the Vishwa Bharati Housing Society.

    All politicians become sick when they go to Jail. Otherwise they do not feel they are sick. They are busy in making so much money and thinking about that money they become sick.
