Mangaluru, Dec 28: In a press conference held on Thursday, December 28, veteran Congress leader and former minister Ramanath Rai strongly condemned the recent speech made by Prabhakar Bhat, labelling it as infused with communal hatred. Bhat's remarks, particularly concerning Muslim women, have sparked outrage, prompting Rai to demand swift and strict action from the state government.

Rai expressed concern over the divisive nature of Bhat's speech, accusing him of attempting to exploit communal sentiments for political gain. He urged the state government to take immediate and stringent measures against Prabhakar Bhat, emphasizing the need for his arrest.

Addressing the media, Rai stated, "Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat is misleading people and making them do bad things, and that's why people of all castes, communities, and every citizen should support us in putting him behind bars. His speech at Srirangapatna shows us that a person from our district is speaking so low about Muslim women, and it's not just an insult to a specific community but to all women. This shows the thought process of Prabhakar Bhat."

Rai continued, "Right now, there are complaints and non-bailable FIRs against Prabhakar Bhat for his speech. The state government should arrest him immediately. The people of the district stand with us, and today nobody can come up and give him support."

Responding to questions about the ongoing efforts and the desired outcome, Rai emphasized the responsibility to exert pressure, expressing hope that the government would take appropriate action. He noted that discussions have been initiated with the chief minister and the police department.

DYFI (Democratic Youth Federation of India) state president Muneer Katipalla also joined the call for Bhat's arrest, condemning his derogatory comments about Muslim women. Katipalla urged the government not to hesitate in taking action, assuring that all communities stand united against such divisive rhetoric.

Other like-minded political figures and associates in Dakshina Kannada district, including Shahul Hameed and Yadav Shetty were present.
