Bantwal: Hill caves in on labourers, two injured

Bantwal, Dec 29: Two labourers got injured as a hill caved in on them at Kayaradka near Soorikumer.

Work related to the compound wall of the local resident Jacintha Martis was in progress.

Two labourers were digging the soil to lay the foundation to the compound wall. Suddenly a hill by the side of the house caved in on them and they got stuck under the mud.

Locals immediately removed the mud from top of the labourers and got them admitted to Thumbay Hospital.

The injured labourers are Rajesh Naik Bayila and Umesh Naik Nelli.

Vittal police inspector Nagaraj and revenue officer Vijay visited the spot. More details are awaited.

    Unscientific vertical cutting is the cause- many a times --- especially with laterite soil -- monsoons -- soil not firm -- happening in very many areas and along highways -- sites development -- no advice taken of professionals -- Govt authorities sleeping -- to avoid such issues-- only post mortem -- no preventive measures or analysis--done before work starts --
