Bengaluru: KSRTC hikes accident relief compensation to victims' families to Rs 10 lac

Bengaluru, Dec 28: The KSRTC has increased the relief amount paid to bereaved dependents of passengers who are killed in road accidents involving its buses. With effect from January 1, 2024, the compensation amount will be increased from Rs 3 lac to Rs 10 lac.

In its publication, KSRTC said, “In case of unfortunate death of passengers travelling by KSRTC buses, the amount that is given to the dependents of the deceased person from the passengers’ accident compensation fund trust has been increased from Rs 3 lac to Rs 10 lac with effect from January 1, 2024.

“In order to accumulate the funds, Re 1 will be collected from passengers travelling on ticket with face value ranging from Rs 50 to 99 and Rs 2 from passengers travelling on ticket with face value of Rs 100 and above. This also will begin from January 1, 2024," the statement said.

Earlier Re 1 was collected towards the accident relief fund from passengers who were travelling on Rs 100 or above face value ticket.

There will not be any charges levied on passengers who buy tickets of face value Re 1 to Rs 49.
