Bengaluru, Dec 29: Faced with complaints regarding delays by different departments and authorities causing delays in granting permissions to the Lokayukta for conducting investigations, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed Chief Secretary Dr Rajneesh Goel to ensure that there were no delays.

The Chief Minister said, “Denying or delaying permissions to the Lokayukta to carry out investigations will send a wrong message to the people,’’ and therefore all necessary information must be furnished to the Lokayukta without delays from all departments.

After holding a review meeting of the Minority Welfare and Housing departments, the Chief Minister asked the department to prepare a Rs 1000 crore action plan in colonies with predominant minority population.

Siddaramaiah asked the department to reallocate Rs 40 crore from the funds allocated to it for the disbursement of scholarships to 6.4 lakh minority students.

He also noted that 1.31 lac houses out of the 3 lac houses proposed to be constructed under different schemes were nearing completion and the remaining 1.6 lac houses must be completed by the end of March.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to present a proposal for release of funds for the completion of houses under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation before the cabinet meeting.

Senior officials and ministers were present at the meeting.
