Mangaluru, Dec 30: Wel-known social worker and propagator of art, Joseph Mathias of UAE was conferred with prestigious Pejawar Vishweshatheertha lifetime achievement award by Kalkura Pratishtana of the city in Pejawar Vishweshatheertha Namana programme that was held in memory of late Pejawar seer Sri Vishweshatheertha.
The award was presented by Pejawar Adhokshaja Math seer Sri Vishwaprasannatheertha.
Sri Vedavardhana Theertha Sripada of Shiroor Math, Sri Vidyendra Theertha Sripada of Chitrapur Math, mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur, Dr M Mohan Alva, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, litterateur Laxmisha Tolpadi and Kateel Hari Narayana Dasa Asranna were present.
Joseph Mathias is known for his social work and charity projects among the Konkani, Tulu, Kannada and Beary community in UAE as well as India. He was one of instrumental figures in Dubai to promote Konkani, Kannada and Tulu activities in the UAE as well as back home. He has been supporting all kinds of musical nites, dramas, and other programmes through sponsorship. He has also supported Tulu and Kannada events in the UAE.
A talented singer, Joseph has rendered his voice in several Konkani and Tulu musical albums and musical nites.
