Udupi, Dec 30: “The Indrali railway bridge work will be finished by March. The fabrication work is in its final stage and after inspection, it will be brought to Indrali for fixing which may take around 20-30 days,” said Dr Vidyakumari, deputy commissioner (DC) of Udupi district.
Speaking about the progress in the work Dr Vidyakumari on Saturday December 30, she said, “Earlier, the work was expected to be finished by December end. But at present, the bridge fabrication work is in its final stage. I have been taking constant updates about the progress of the work. The constructed bridge needs to undergo a test and then it will be brought here for fixing. As per the current schedule, the work will be completed by January or February end. There needs to be a joint survey conducted by the national highway authority and the railway department. The fixing of the bridge will take around 20-30 days.”
Speaking about the Santhekatte underpass work, Dr Vidyakumari said, “The Santhekatte underpass work will be completed by October end. The work is going on in full swing. We had a meeting with the contractors and they have been given a deadline of October next year.
“The court stay on Parkala road is enforced till March 2024. We have held discussions with the advocate general to seriously consider the case,” she said.
Concerning potential water shortages due to insufficient rainfall, Dr Vidyakumari mentioned that there is currently an overflow, and inflow of water remains constant. “The overflow is expected to continue until January 20. After that, a rationing system might be implemented. The Varahi project is also progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by February,” she said.
