Sullia: Youth meets watery grave in Payaswini river

Sullia, Jan 1: A youth who got down in Payaswini river to have bath drowned on Sunday at Bhasmadka near here.

The deceased is identified as Sameer (27), a resident of Varkady gram panchayat limits of Kasargod. He was residing in Sullia and working in an organization.

As Sunday was a holiday, three youths had got down to wash clothes in Payaswini river. It is said that Sameer was having bath after washing the clothes. The other two were still washing the clothes. By the time the other two youths noticed, it is said Sameer had drowned in the river.

Local swimmers and fire service personnel fished out the mortal remains of Sameer from the river. Sullia police visited the spot and are investigating further.
