Mangalore: Grand End to Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Kadri Nrithya Vidyanilaya

Mangalore, Sep 11: The valedictory of the platinum jubilee celebration of Kadri Nrithya Vidyanilaya was held at Town Hall here on Sunday September 11.
Presiding over the programme, union corporate affairs minister M Veerappa Moily said that the founder of the institution U S Krishna Rao was an artiste with values. Maintaning consistency in classical arts from one generation to another is a tough job, however, his son U K Praveen and Usha Praveen have inculcated the values cherished by the late U S Rao, which they have proved by taking ‘bharatha natya’ art to greater heights, he said.
On a lighter note, Moily said that his wife Malathy was U S Krishna's student, and recalled that U S Krishna Rao always thought Moily had married Malathy because she was a good dancer. Moily however said that he married her due family pressure, which evoked laughter in the audience.
On the occasion veteran art critic A Eshwaraiah was honoured with the ‘Nrithya Vidya Vachaspathi’ title. Addressing the gathering he said that the service rendered by U S Krishna Rao to the field of art was magnanimous. He nurtured Bharatha Natya art at a time when it was new to this place, without any commercial gains in sight. Bharatha Natya became a complete art form after 600 years of hard work by artistes. Now, people in this region also get to savor the flavor of this art because of the foresight and dedication of U S Krishna Rao, he pointed out.
Dr Na Damodar Shetty, an art critic, lauded the efforts of the late U S Krishna Rao from whose institution about 300 dancers ascend the stage every year with utmost confidence and perfection.
Malathi Veerappa Moily released a souvenir on the occasion.
A J Shetty, president, Laxmi Memorial Education Trust, Rajesh Chowta S, president, Rajalaxmi Education Trust, Roy Castelino, renowned entrepreneur, Mangalore were present.
‘Nrithya Vaibhava’ was followed by Kadri Nrithya Vidyanilaya students. Nimitha Rathnakar compered the programme.
Communal Violence Bill does Not Affect Autonomy of States: Moily

Mangalore, Sep 11: The central government is not trying to curb the autonomy of states by introducing the Communal Violence Bill, asserted Corporate Affairs minister Veerappa Moily here on Sunday September 11.
The Prime Minister had himself clarified that the Bill was within the purview of the Constitution. The Bill was placed before the parliament a long time ago, and seven years of in-depth discussions were held across the nation. The government was only giving it a proper form now, he told reporters.
At a meeting earlier, even BJP and Trinamool Congress had agreed on this bill, but now they are voicing disagreements on the outside, he rued.
About Janardhan Reddy’s arrest, Moily said CBI arrested him as per the order of Andhra Pradesh high court. "The CBI is an independent institution and not the agent of Congress. Even Suresh Kalmadi and A Raja were also arrested by the CBI. No guilty person can walk free from the law, he said.
Moily also said that the central government will very soon implement a national mining policy which is in its final stages now.
About denotification order on land acquired for the second phase of MSEZ work by the state government, Moily said it was a wrong decision by the state government and it should be reconsidered. It will affect the capital investment and thereby development. As much as 2035 acres of land was notified for the second phase work of MSEZ and 80 % of the people had given their consent. There is a need for the government to consider these facts, he stressed.
Moily said that the MRPL phase 2 extension work will by completed by next April. The cost of the project was Rs 15,000 crores. The Prime Minister will be invited to inaugurate it, he said.
He further said that construction of the 190-km Kundapur-Goa four-lane road is on the anvil but permission from the Planning Commission is pending. He also said that he would hold a meeting soon with officials to discuss the development of Shiradi Ghat.
The proposal for B C Road-Polali-Kateel-Mulky bypass highway has been sent, he said, and added that directions have been given to the development of the NMPT stadium.
The primary survey on Udupi-Agumbe-Teerthahalli highway which will be constructed at of Rs 130 crores has been done, he said.
