Udupi, Jan 3: Pejawar Math seer Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji clarified that invitations for the Lord Rama's temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya have been extended based on representation.

He said there are many devotees of Lord Rama including saints and math heads along with the people's representatives and donors but due to space constraints it would be difficult for all of them to be invited to be part of the ceremony.

He said soon after the consecration ceremony all the devotees would get an opportunity to have a darshan of the Lord Bala Rama. He said devotees should not feel slighted that invites have not been given to many as there is limited seating space inside the temple on the day of the consecration.

"People who have been invited should definitely be part of the ceremony and the remaining should go to Ayodhya later. There are many tents and sheds that have been erected for devotees to stay and since it is Dhanurmasa it would be difficult for people to sleep out in the open due to the biting cold conditions," the Pejawar seer said.

Reacting to former minister Anjaneya's statement that the temple of Lord Rama in Ayodhya was that of the BJP, he said, "Rama and Krishna are not different. God exists in all of us including the chief minister Siddaramaiah. Why should anyone think that it is the BJP's temple? It is a temple that belongs to all the Indians and it is not just the property of the BJP because it is not people of the party who have contributed money for the temple. The temple has not been built with government funding. It has been built with the people's money from devotees living all over the world."

Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji expressed his displeasure over the case being reopened against the Hubballi Kar Sevak. He said, "The temple construction is in progress. The arrest of the Kar Sevak is an effort to marginalise the Hindus which is the reason for all the commotion. The government should strive to clear all the misgivings and confusions."

The seer also impressed upon the need to declare January 22 as a public holiday on the occasion of the temple's Prana Pratishtha ceremony. He said since a majority of Indians are Hindus their faith and emotions should be respected.

The seer said Udupi MLA Suvarna had already sought a public holiday on January 22 and that he seconded it.
