Konkani drama ‘Sikeram Driver’ wins hearts at Bantwal, Moodbidri

Bantwal/Moodbidri, Jan 5: A very talented team led by Dony Correa all the way from Dubai successfully presented Konkani drama ‘Sikeram Driver’ to a houseful crowd in Loretto in Bantwal and Moodbidri.

The first show was presented at Loretto church grounds on December 9, organized by United Loretto Friends – Dubai, presented by Ryzen Gulf International LLC Dubai, Ivan Pinto & Fly Loretto. A crowd of over 1200, which was gathered, kept glued to their seats until the end to witness the intense, energetic, and engaging drama. The crowd highly appreciated this perfect blend of humour, emotion, drama, suspense and loads of entertainment. Parish priest Fr Francis Crasta and the Loretto School principal Fr Jaison Monis applauded the team for a wonderful performance and Dony Correa was felicitated by United Loretto Friends. Talented Floyd Kiran beautifully compered the event.

Both the shows were powered by Leyton Shipping LLC, Delmon Group of Companies and James Mendonca & fly, Dubai.

The second show was held at Corpus Cristi Church grounds, Moodbidri (Town) on December 10 to a houseful crowd. The show was organized by Corpus Cristi parish in contribution to the funds towards the church. The show was disrupted by heavy rain. The full house crowd were anticipating the continuation of the drama amidst the heavy pouring rain. The drama team who were supposed to fly back to Dubai, rescheduled their tickets to complete and perform the drama for the eager crowd and the show was rescheduled to December 11 at Milan multi-purpose hall, Moodbidri. The pin drop silence between the scenes and the applause after every scene indicated that it was a super-hit show.

Fr Onil D’Souza – parish priest and the parish council of Corpus Cristi Church hailed the drama team for their efforts to complete the show next day without disappointing the huge crowd gathered. Dony Correa was felicitated by Fr Onil and the parish council. Aldrin Fernandes compered the event, Harry Rego welcomed the crowd and thanked them for their wholehearted support towards the success of drama.

The drama team under the leadership of Dony Correa did not leave any stone unturned to make it a huge hit in both the locations. The talented artistes mesmerized the audience through their powerful and brilliant acting skills. Each actor did full justice to their stage characters. It was very much evident with applause, laughter, whistles that the audience were enjoying every moment till the end. Their superb dialogue delivery with utmost clarity, and the intense act captivated the hearts of the audience. The comedy timing of Sunil Suvarna and Robert Mendonca bought in loads of laughter among the crowd. The brilliant and powerful act of Cynthia Mendonca, Godwin Castelino and Vincy Lobo captivated the hearts of the audience. The emotional act and involvement of Asha Correa was appreciated by the crowd. Dony Correa as Sikeram made an everlasting impact among the hearts and mind of the audience present. Everyone applauded the apt acting of Sikeram and his superb dialogue delivery. The fantastic music that added zest to the drama was designed by the well-known drama musician Rohan Kalakul. The beautiful lighting was designed by Melwin Kalakul. Ashok D’Almeida took the complete charge of the stage right from arranging the props till the setup completion. Astitva Mangalore provided brilliant light, sound setting, stage setting and make-up, which was a clear witness of their abilities and professionalism.
