Mangaluru, Jan 5: Cine actor Aravind Bolar inaugurated the crossfit and Zumba pro sports care and Nutrition Centre at Icon Fitness Club Unisex Gym here at Kulshekar on Friday, January 5.

Speaking on the occasion, Aravind Bolar said, "If gyms have to be advanced it's only possible when we take membership into them. When I heard they are teaching zumba I was shocked. But situations have become such that physical exercise is needed in our day-to-day lives. Health is essential for humans and only those who are sensitive towards fitness can stay in good shape and fit for a long time."

He emphasised that bad food habits are playing a key role in our society and as much as exercise is important even eating healthy food is also essential.

Walter Nandalike, founder and managing director of Daijiworld Media said, "This is the largest gym in the entire Mangaluru, and usually gyms have problems in becoming profitable and only those owners who are passionate and courageous can become successful which the owners of Icon Fitness are. Gym is not an alternative to stay fit but it is essential to have the right diet."

He also emphasised that the moment we realise we have an illness we try to do all sorts of exercises and after 2-4 days we forget about them and this should not be the case in future, he added.

Fr Clifford Fernandes, parish priest of Holy Cross Church Kulshekar, said, "If you get sick you have to go to the hospital and if you don't want to get sick we need good food, a good mind and this is the first time in Mangaluru where a cafeteria has been installed in a gym."

He also said that "God had given the family a single floor of gym with their efforts and hard work. They have made it three floors now and I hope that in future they get more gyms and start their own franchises."

The admission for zumba classes have opened from January 3, and the Icon Fitness Club will organise two-day trial classes on January 8 from 9 am to 10 pm and on January 9 between 6:30 pm and 7:30.pm.

Regular classes are divided into morning and evening batches, where the morning batches will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9 am and 10 am while the evening classes will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 5 pm to 6 pm or between 6:30.pm and 7:30 pm.

At this event, a lucky draw of two-wheeler Scooty, Hero Destini, Prime was won by Shawn from Mangaluru. All the gym trainers were felicitated on the occasion.

Renita Aaraha compered the event and the vote of thanks was delivered by Sharun Padalkar.
