Mangaluru, Jan 6: In a startling incident at a wedding hall near Beeri on Friday January 5, a young girl from Mysuru accused the groom, from Kozhikode, Kerala, of engaging in a physical relationship with her under the pretext of marriage.
The girl, who claimed to be the groom's lover, entered the wedding hall with the police after the marriage rituals had concluded. The groom managed to escape from the hall, leaving the bride's shocked family members behind.
The groom, originally from Kerala, had his marriage fixed with a Mangaluru-origin bride on the same day. The girl, who had filed a complaint with the Kerala police accusing the groom of sexual harassment, arrived at the hall with prior allegations. The groom's anticipatory bail had already been rejected by the Kerala court.
Reportedly, the groom, hailing from Kerala, hastily married the Mangaluru bride at the wedding hall. Despite getting engaged just a few days earlier, he tied the Mangalasutra to the bride on Friday morning before the priest completed the Homa ritual.
Anticipating the arrival of the girl from Mysuru, the groom escaped from the hall when she entered, speaking to the media and the police. The groom later spoke to the police, providing information about the situation.
Dejected upon learning about the groom's alleged betrayal, the bride's family returned home. Further investigation is underway by the Ullal police.
