'Mangaluru Malayali Sangamam 2024' held with grandeur

Mangaluru, Jan 6: Mangaluru Malayali Sangamam 2024, themed ‘Unity beyond Boundaries’, was held at Townhall on Saturday, January 6. The mega event was organized by Kerala Samajam, Mangaluru, in collaboration with Karnataka Nair Society Mangaluru, Karnataka Malayali Vishwakarma Samajam Mangaluru, Kairali Kala Vedi, Surathkal, and other like-minded associations.

Mangaluru Malayali Sangamam which aimed to strengthen bonds and foster unity among individuals from diverse backgrounds, transcending caste, community, and religion, provided a platform to bring together people from various walks of life to celebrate shared heritage. The grand event also aimed to unite participants to achieve remarkable milestones and contribute to the betterment of society.

The event kicked off with a vibrant cultural procession starting from St Aloysius College Centenary Ground, passing through Jyothi Circle, and concluding at the Town Hall.

T K Rajan, president of Kerala Samajam, presided over the function. The distinguished line-up also featured M G Sree Kumar, a talented playback singer, composer, and national film award winner, Jayasurya, an acclaimed south Indian film actor and national film award winner, Gurukiran, a leading south Indian music director and Karnataka state film award winner, and Renu K Nair, general manager and zonal head of Union Bank, Mangaluru.

M G Sreekumar was honoured with the ‘Janapriya Gayaka Award’ for his remarkable contributions to the field of music.

Event coordinators V M Satheeshan and Murali welcomed the gathering, Neethu Laxmi and Snehaja compered the event.

Secretary Kerala Samajam Maxim Sebastian, treasurer Rajan P, president Karnataka Nair Service Society Mangaluru C Vijaya Kumar, president Kairali Kala Vedi Surathkal Niclabose CP, and president Karnataka Malayali Vishwakarma Samajam Sandesha M were present.
