Last October, the high court sentenced five individuals to life imprisonment in connection with the murder case of Ramakrishna, an administrative officer at KVG Polytechnic. 'Akash Bhavan' Sharan, identified as one of the accused who took a contract to commit the murder, had been on the run, leading to the court withholding the pronouncement of his punishment. Despite police efforts to locate him, he remained elusive. Now, in a shocking turn of events, he attempted to kill police officers by intentionally crashing his car into their vehicle.
Sharan faces a staggering 21 cases in Mangaluru and Udupi, including charges of murder, attempted murder, rape of a minor girl, and extortion. He orchestrated the killing of Surendra Bantwal through his associates in August 2020 while he was incarcerated. Released on bail at the end of 2022, he was again arrested on January 14, 2023, for attempting to rob a scooter rider near Suratkal. After spending four months in prison, he was released and promptly went underground. Additionally, there is an arms act case filed against this notorious criminal.
