Hyderabad: CBI Court Denies Bail to Janardhana Reddy

Janardhana Reddy's Bail Plea Dismissed, Sent to CBI Custody

Hyderabad, Sep 13 (IANS): Rejecting the bail applications of former Karnataka minister and mining baron G. Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in-law Srinavasa Reddy, a special court Tuesday sent the duo to the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) till Sep 19 in an illegal mining case.

The CBI court had reserved its orders Monday night after a marathon hearing on bail pleas of the accused and on a CBI petition for the their custody.

"The judge remanded them to the CBI custody and directed that they be produced before the court on Sep 19," CBI counsel T.V. Ramna told reporters.

Armed with the court warrant, a team of CBI officials led by Additional Superintendent of Police R.M. Khan later reached Chanchalguda Central Jail to take custody of the accused, even as the lawyers of the duo moved the high court against the order of the special court.

The CBI is likely to take the accused to the nearby state-run Dilkusha Guest House, which serves as its office. They will be questioned in a case of illegal mining in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district.

Judge Naga Murthy Sharma pronounced the order after hearing both the sides for three days. The hearing Friday and Monday lasted beyond court hours.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Vivek Kanka had told the court Monday that there is a lot the CBI wants to investigate by interrogating the accused.

Terming the illegal mining as a huge scam spread over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, the ASG said it would not have taken place without connivance of the public servants from top to bottom.

"The CBI wants to find out the role played by public servants in granting permits for mining and transportation of iron ore and laying of roads in forest areas," he said.

A battery of defence lawyers headed by senior Supreme Court advocate Udai Lalit sought the bail for the accused on the ground that the CBI case against them was politically motivated, mala fide and vindictive.

Lalit is the special public prosecutor in the 2G scam case being heard in a special court in Delhi.

The CBI arrested Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) director Janardhana and OMC managing director Srinivasa after raiding their houses Sep 5 in Karnataka's Bellary district.

The same day they were brought to Hyderabad and the CBI court remanded them to judicial custody till Sep 19.

Not only has he looted 10000s of crores from illigal mining but as a tourism minister he has been paid so much for doing a f..k of nothing for tourism for our state. He should be hanged. Dear Mr. N.Nayak. I am realy surprised that you defend the BJP party members and condemn the congress. A new era has started and we have started cleaning the government. If we are successful with the Reddys and the Yeddys then your hatred Sonyas will also come next. Please do not stop this process.

This has come 50 years later but it is here. Let us not loose this chance. If we do not conquer the corruption now where it is just on the finger-tips we need encouragement and not discouragement. Help Karnataka help India. This country has everything you can dream-off except pure politics.
    Jai Karnataka. Jai India

any one related to any political party should be punished for corruption. till now BJP leader was telling congress looted india 60 years but BJP looted within 5 years what congress people did in 60years. before starting any Rath Yathra Mr. Adavni should remove all corrupt leaders in his own party incluing Gadkari and Susma Swaraj because they also take gift from corrupt YEDDY AND REDDY.

It is a good news for 6 crore Kannadigas.

    Ee SAMAYA ANANDAMAYA......

First Naidu, then Reddy, the next person to go behind bar will be Yeddy.

The BJP state leaders must be very happy to see this development. He has been the trouble maker to GOVT all these days.

If Yeddi also goes behind bar, DVS led BJP Govt will run smoothly.

    Lydia Lobo, Kadri,

I have no problems with Janardhana Reddy not getting bail,,, he should be throughly probed for any possible wrong doings....

Now regarding Hassan Ali, way you write,,, perhaps you dont know him well, let me briefly explain to you....he owns horse farm in Pune and widely known to enabled transfer of corruption money from India to Swiss banks through Hawala transactions...amongst others beneficiaries are alleged to include Shrimaans Sharad Pawars, Ahmed Patels and Sonia Gandhi's...

I think it was traversity of justice that he got bail very easily....thats what my buddy Nagesh wanted to tell in his comments...

Now in judiciary there is a thing called "precedent"...if one thief got away with murder....his lawyers can quote a similar case and try to get relief for his client....

Now Srimaan Nagesh Nayak Mamu may look like a villain to you for me he looks like a hero...Somebody's freedom fifgter is others criminal...its how you look at it.

    Jai Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    Regards,

    Langoolacharya.

NN is worried because his favourite scam hit former CM BS Yeddyurappa may be questioned by CBI because CBI recently held Everonn Education Ltd CEO in computer distribution scam case. Yeddyurappa allegedly taken kickback to allow same company to distribute computers to Karantaka government schools in his tenure.  And CBI not coming under state Government.

    Nagesh Nayak,

This can be the apex of your stupidity. You don't care if (1) several tonnes of ore from Balikere Port got disappeared, (2) Ore from Karnataka loaded on goods train with wrong cargo manifest and transported to AP Ports to export illegally (3) Reddys amassed such a huge fortune robbing the bosom of our own mother earth (Karnataka). None of this is offense but what Ali Hassan did is above any offense in this world for you.

I don't say Ali Hassan should be let off the hook but I will never say 'what Reddys did is alright' either. Please come to senses and comment than hitting a few keys just get your name appear on this website. Nobody... just nobody hero-worships you here.

Hassan Ali set free, so he should be the standard of justice for all case, wow what a argument, i don’t know the details of Hassan Ali case, if he didn’t deserve the bail, it is wrong on part of justice to do so, it should be condemned. I don’t know why people judge Justice on the bases of caste, political party, I think it is not the people who wants to do, it is the people who will be benefited by it. eg: if congress will benefit from election if they say BJP is supporting only Hindus, Vice-versa. It is not common people, it is politicians who wants to play with peoples emotion’s.

So Mr Nayak are you a politician or common man(Anna)
