Puttur: Abandoned by children, woman finds solace in orphanage care, passes away unattended

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Jan 8: Laxmi Hegde, aged 90, faced abandonment by her seven children due to old-age-related sickness. Left in the care of an orphanage, she passed away on Sunday due to a cardiac arrest.

Her children did not attend her funeral, leaving the orphanage management to conduct her final rites.

Residing near Ilanthila of Uppinangady, Laxmi Hegde sought help from the police as her children neglected her in her old age. When contacted, the children expressed helplessness, leading the then station officer of Uppinangady, Nandakumar, to admit Laxmi to Bharat Sevashrama at Kanyana. Nandakumar, treating her as his own mother, regularly visited the orphanage to inquire about her well-being.

After Laxmi's demise from a cardiac arrest, the orphanage attempted to reach her children, but received no response. Unable to contact police officer Nandakumar, who had previously cared for Laxmi, the orphanage administration, following its rules, conducted the final rites for Laxmi Hegde.

Everyone looks at it from one perspective since the mother made headlines. Like someone else also pointed out in their comments, there could have been issues within the family that involved the mother. The word 'Mother' is glorified. What the mothers/mothers-in-law do while they are hale & hearty is never questioned. But upon a situation like this, the society is quick to point fingers at the children/in-laws. There are enough of mothers out there who cause deep rifts between children & in the family. Those time the mothers do not think that a day will come when they'd need their children to look after them. So when some of you use the word Karma, you're right maybe it was karma!

This all looks sad and tragic. But third parties will never know the reality of family dynamics . Some parents who have not worked for the wealth they have, and who never took serious decision's in their life often do not know how to take the right decision at the right time . This further gets complicated when some favorite children behave unreasonably and arrogantly. It s simply creates confusion with other family members and tears the family apart. However if they don't have any wealth that is a separate issue. We need more knowledgeable parents along with some good old age houses. so that people can live and die with the love respect and care they deserve.

Very Sad, RIP Laxmi Hegde. God bless Mr. Nandakumar. @ Bharat Sevashrama at Kanyana, thank you for looking after her. Her seven childrens are inhumane. Why there's no moral values in our society ?

Achhu Mangalore.Police case cant be filed because it is not kriminal in the eyes of Law.When all children have abandoned the mother ,means there must be some reason must be there.Same time these children should remember their time also will come and they too may have to land in orphanage or road side .Hard .May be mother was too too hard to children ?who knows the interior truth?May her soul rest in peace. One should find out why this has happend Make research?. Very sad. May her soul RIP. Many people say Indian culture is best culture in the world. But the truth is that our culture is one on the worst, were we value money and status above parents and humanity.

Sad to know that none from their organization took this case & tried to give her decent life & burial. Hats off to you Nandakumar, God bless you. Always use available opportunity & go out the way to help others, when you are in trouble God will go out the way to help you out. Note: If you think God never helped me when i was in trouble & suffered alone then look back introspect whether you helped when others were in dire need?
